Welcome!

Welcome to the Our Mother of Sorrows Alumni Blog! This service exists so that OMS alumni can more easily communicate with each other about upcoming events at OMS, planning future events, reminiscing, or anything else! If you have any questions about how this Blog works, please e-mail Simon at skaufman@skdp.org. Have a great day!

  1. Dear OMS Friends,

After so many years where to start? First, I will look forward to seeing many of you at the '09 Alumni Day. I have reconnected with OMS for the past year and I can tell you this, "Come Join Me...It Feels Like Home". As part of the OMS Alumni Committee, the 1961 Class has taken off just like it was yesterday. Duff, she remembers everything...Paul and I spar, as part of the Tuesday Soup Kitchen Crew, as if we were still in fourth grade. Both Duff and Paul remember every Teacher/Nun they ever had...can you believe that!! How many do you remember??
At the last Alumni Day I had the best experience. I met my favorite teacher, "Miss Elaine". She was our third grade teacher (the 1st lay teacher at OMS.) She coached the girls BB team, and established a cheerleading squad. Great Job Miss Elaine, And Thank You! (See Photo)
I have also shared OMS and Fallon Street memories with Donna and Jerry... all last names have been omitted to protect "The Innocent"...which brings to mind, please, please, submit your personal information so we can get this website blog up and running. We All will have our own reasons for returning to Our Mother Of Sorrows. For me it is a three fold reason:
    (1) The Pride My Aunt Margie Gibbons Potts had in OMS
    (2) To Honor My Uncle Al Scullin
    (3) My Fallon Street Tradition of Family. This website is in memory of "My Mom".

Personal Note: Simon, Thank You for all your hard work on behalf of OMS/SI. Great Job!!

D.G. Looking forward to seeing an Old Fallon Streeter all the way from Germany. I bet you will have traveled the farthest...OMS will be worth it. My brother Jerry and I remember you quite well!!

  2. Hi. I did not attend school at OMS but spent many days and weekends on Fallon St with my Grandparents, Aunts and many Cousins. Some were up the street and some down the street.
We have such great memories of OMS and the neighborhood. The truck coming with "The Whip" on the back so we would be treated to a ride.
The amusement I found in people double parking and you would have to give a beep and someone would coming flying out of a house to move the car so you could get by. Probably just going round the block to return to the double park spot. Ha. Special occasions, thanksgiving and the house smelling of turkey, relatives stopping in, watching Lassie and Ed Sullivan.
One important memory was seeing the Beatles on Ed Sullivan for the first time on Fallon St.
That memory is still clear as the day they sang
    Love you...yeah...yeah...yeah.
Best wishes to your parish on it's coming celebration. Many blessings have come from that neighborhood and continue to this day.
When my Mom was sick out in Paoli Hospital we were surprised to realize there were 5 people from Fallon St. in that hospital that day.
Fr. Dan Gallagher and his sister Mary came to visit their old next door neighbor, My Mom. Ruthie Adams was working there and my cousin
Eileen was visiting. Here we were so many years later and the connection was still intact. What blessings!!!

  4. Dear Friends,
One of the nice features of our OMS Alumni Website is the "LINKS". You can use it to go directly to our Parish Information, Our School Information, OUR BLOG SPOT, STM and WC. Perhaps in the future we could have a direct link to Shanahan Catholic Club information. I hope you have enjoyed some of the old pictures.
Please share any old photos you may have. Send us copies and we can put them up for you. Computer experts can do it themselves, I am not one of those people so my Husband and Cousins are helping me to do so. I can't wait until April 19th, hope to see you at OMS to share many of our memories of Family, Friends, and Neighbors. Memories Never Die!!
